KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning, developing and implementing agricultural market system development activities.
- Lead in planning and guide implementation of assessments in the target geographic areas to assess current status of agribusiness market players, capacities and constraints as well as economic opportunities for small holder farmers.
- Take lead in developing of sector strategies for Agriculture inputs markets. Agriculture output markets and financial services integrated with gender equity that will promote development of agribusiness in rural areas.
- In conjunction with the Government and sector leads, ensure groups of vulnerable farmers receive and adopt adequate quality trainings under each component.
- Lead and guide sector lead in promoting commercialization of small holder farming and linking farmers to markets for products and other market oriented opportunities such as contract farming among others.
- Lead in identification of suitable private sector companies which sell certified seeds or buy harvest from farmers and to support them to develop inclusive business models that provide goods and services for famers.
- Support the private companies which partner with the SAFE program to establishment rural supply networks (retail or aggregation shops/hubs) in rural areas to increase access for small holder farmers to markets.
- Support development of partnerships with financial institutions such as banks and MFI’s to extend financial services to rural areas and improve access and utilization by small holder farmers.
- Take lead in providing business management mentorship support to sector leads to achieve the result framework.
- Support sector leads in management of partnerships with the private Sector players including tracking of milestones towards attainment of partnership objectives
- Support private sector companies to develop women-centered market strategies which will improve the participation of women in different sectors across the agriculture value chain leading to economic empowerment.
- Facilitate SHF cooperatives to develop business plans and legal status to support contract farming.
- Support Sector leads to Form and build capacity of Communities to engage in Community Action Planning (CAPs) to implement strategies that increase climate resilience and sustainable Natural Resource Management (NRM) and facilitate access to markets.
- Collaboration Networking, Representation and Coordination.
- Represent ADRA as the primary liaison with Blue Nile Region leadership program partners, key local stakeholders, NGOs, the other ADRA projects including maintaining appropriate communication and consultation.
- Support SAFE program Sector leads to maintain a good and collaborative relationship with relevant stakeholders including local business owners, local representatives and community leaders and members.
- Establish and maintain good coordination and working relationships with State, locality, and lower-level leaders, representing ADRA and soliciting participation in activities where appropriate and as directed.
- Be the focal person for coordination and partnerships with stakeholders and other partners.
- Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit ADRA Sudan and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
- Documentation Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting.
- Support and guide the monitoring and evaluation team to conduct high quality studies, to capture data for measuring outcomes and impact of the program.
- Lead the preparation of work plans, and monitor program progress and timely delivery or all reporting and deliverables, ensuring performance quality and compliance with SIDA and ADRA requirements.
- Develop and maintain a safe environment that encourages the sharing of problems ideas and solutions, and efficiently and effectively adapt approaches to appropriately respond to feedback.
- Coordinate activities for monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting to continuously improve project design and implementation; oversee drafts and reviews of quarterly and annual reports; manage mid-term and final evaluation processes, and following up the implementation of any correction plan as needed.
- Support MEAL Officer and sector leads to ensure accurate and timely flow of information from the field.
- Support the Program to maintain proper records and good filing system.
- Provide follow ups, recommendations, and solutions where there are challenges during implementation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Human resources management
- In collaboration with the Program Manager, recruit, supervise, and coach team for the program, identify and facilitate opportunities for staff professional development and provide technical assistance to program staff as needed.
- Develop capacity building materials for business, technical and financial capacities as well as participate in capacity building sessions for staff, companies, agribusinesses, cooperatives, groups and farmers.
- Conduct regular staff appraisals
- Lead and train program staff on adherence to ADRA Sudan Policies, PSEA, Code of Conduct among others.
Financial Management:
- Monitor program financial management, reporting and transactions to meet the highest standards of accountability.
- Prepare financial projections, procurement plans and review program monthly financial reports
Security:
- Be fully aware of the security situation of the area and follow and guide staff on all precautionary procedures.
- Personal safety is the top priority. The incumbent is clearly advised not to take any risk whatsoever of personal insecurity at no time and under no circumstances.

Education, Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agribusiness, Business management Agricultural Economics or any related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years’ management experience with INGOs and small holder farmers production and marketing activities.
- At least 2 years of experience working in the private sector, specifically companies which deal in agriculture input (such as seeds). Algaculture outputs (purchasing farm harvest). financial services sector or related field.
- Experience in Market System Development, agriculture. Food security and livelihoods projects and resilience is an added advantage.
- Good verbal and written English, communication, organizational prioritization and negotiation skills, knowledge of Arabic is strong advantage.
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft office applications including word, excel, Power point and other relevant applications.
- Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm as well as willingness lead and to learn and to be continually adaptive within a dynamic and often self-directed working environment.
- Excellent Leadership and team work abilities, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and timeliness.
- Willingness to spend much time in leading and guiding the team in the field and working closely with program target groups.
- Strong organizational and report-writing skills.
- Good knowledge and experience of Blue Nile Region and local context is preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of applying Do No harm frameworks / concepts and approaches in high-risk security areas is an advantage.
