POSITION OVERVIEW
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of a humanitarian response project focused on health, nutrition, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WaSH) interventions in Sudan. This role requires strong project management skills, technical expertise in health, nutrition, and WaSH, and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and achievement of project goals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project Planning and Coordination
- Develop a comprehensive project plan, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders, to ensure effective project implementation.
- Monitor and track project progress, identifying and addressing any issues or challenges that arise.
- Technical Expertise
- Apply in-depth knowledge of health, nutrition, and WaSH interventions to design and implement appropriate strategies and activities.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project staff and partners, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
- Stay updated on the latest developments and innovations in health, nutrition, and WaSH in humanitarian settings.
- Budget Management
- Develop and manage the project budget, ensuring accurate financial forecasting and expenditure tracking.
- Monitor financial reports and ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.
- Identify and address any budgetary constraints or variances, proposing appropriate solutions.
- Team Leadership and Capacity Building
- Supervise and provide guidance to project staff, ensuring effective team performance and professional development.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting knowledge sharing and learning.
- Identify capacity gaps within the team and implement training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Develop and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation framework to track project outcomes and impacts.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors, partners, and other stakeholders, including progress reports and financial reports.
- Conduct periodic reviews and evaluations to assess project effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Coordination and Networking
- Liaise and coordinate with relevant government entities, NGOs, and other humanitarian actors to ensure effective collaboration and resource sharing.
- Represent the organization in coordination meetings, conferences, and workshops related to health, nutrition, and WaSH.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, fostering partnerships for long-term sustainability.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Health, International Development, or a related discipline).
- Proven experience 5 years in managing humanitarian projects, particularly in health, nutrition, and Wash sectors.
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of health, nutrition, and Wash interventions in humanitarian contexts.
- Demonstrated experience in project planning, implementation, and monitoring.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and negotiate with stakeholders at various levels.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable.
- Experience working in Sudan or other similar contexts will be an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and Google suite.
- Must be Sudanese Nationality.
