Sudan, surrounded by the Central African Republic, Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Libya and South Sudan, positioned next to East, West, South and North Africa, is surrounded by complex conflicts in an unpredictable, volatile and rapidly evolving region. Sudan is by size the third biggest country in Africa, with a diverse population of around 42 million people. Sudan’s children make up half of the total population, and the past two decades have seen their lives significantly improve: fewer girls and boys are dying before their fifth birthday, primary school attendance is increasing, immunization coverage is high and the country remains polio free. Still, millions of children continue to suffer from protracted conflict in Darfur, the Kordofans, and Blue Nile, from seasonal natural disasters, malnutrition and disease outbreaks, and from under-investment in basic social services. More than three million of Sudan’s school aged children are not in the classroom. UNICEF has been in Sudan since 1952 and continues with a presence in 12 of Sudan’s 18 states.

How can you make a difference?

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Appropriate and consistent interpretation and application of administrative policy and procedures timely implemented to support operations at the country or sub-offices.

2. Operations of delivery of Protocol support services are timely and effectively provided, and related arrangements are well established for enhanced protocol services.

3. All required Immigration requirements and procedures are followed and facilitated effectively.

4. All required government permits and licenses are obtained, filed, and renewed effectively.

5. All administrative transactions and arrangements of airport arrival and departures for UNICEF affiliated personnel are effectively administered.

6. All vehicles’ registration processes are supported and implemented effectively.

7. All customs clearance formalities and procedures are supported and followed up to ensure timely delivery and finalization.

8. Effective working relations are maintained with other agencies, local authorities and implementing partners.

9. Any other assigned administrative support responsibilities and services are effectively carried out and delivered.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

• Completion of Secondary School Diploma or any other related field of discipline relevant to the job is an asset.
• A minimum of FIVE years of relevant professional experience in protocol support, office management, administration, human resources, logistics or any other relevant function.
• Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
