Objectives and Responsibilities:
The Logistic Officer is responsible for Procurement and Fleet management in Welthungerhilfe River Nile Office.
The Logistic Officer will have the following duties:
- Procurements for the project.
- Provide and obtain for the project all tender documents according to WHH awarding contract rules and regulations.
- Follow signature of the contracts and services according to WHH structure.
- Develop systems and coordinate all logistical activities related to River Nile office projects.
- Initiate spare part supply chain for vehicles, generators, machinery and other assets.
- Develop sustainable and manageable maintenance schemes for vehicles, generators and other assets.
- Train local staff in maintenance and repair of vehicles, generators and other assets
- Develop logistical documentation forms for proper and efficient use of vehicles, generators, machinery and other assets .
- Regular liaison with Welthungerhilfe logistics department in Country
- office
- Dispatch fuel/gas to Welthungerhilfe sub offices
- Prepare fuel/gas quarterly report .
- Make sure all vehicles are always in good, clean and safe running conditions.
- To supervise and manage project i.e:
- To maintain and develop/improve:
- Field Work
- Supervise any project related construction/rehabilitation work
- Calculate costs and draft contracts with contractors
- Supervision of Mechanical Workshop
- Identify all mechanical problems and spare parts
- Plan & coordinate all Mechanical works
- Supervise Mechanics
- Supervision of Welthungerhilfe- Fleet and Drivers
- Supervise Drivers
- Plan vehicle use on daily basis
- Calculate the petrol, oil, and lubricant (POL) use on a monthly basis, handle special petty cash for POL and submit vouchers to accounting on a monthly basis
- Project communication documentation systems
- Shortlist of reliable suppliers for all project materials
a) If necessary, spend time in the field to support local staff
Qualifications
- University Degree, Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or any relevant
- At least 3 years’ experience in Logistics and experience with INGOS is essential.
- Government or private company experience is not relevant for this post.
- Experience with such donors as ECHO, USAID/OFDA, EU, WFP, FAO, DFID, CHF, UNDP is an advantage.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written, is ESSENTIAL for this position
- Advanced practical knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office is required.
