Position Purpose:

It is widely documented that education provides a pathway out of poverty, protects girls from early marriage and child labor, as well as violence. The proposed initiative will contribute to poverty reduction by improving equitable education outcomes for vulnerable girls and women living in conflict-affected areas of Sudan. Girls, women, boys and men from these communities, especially the most marginalized and vulnerable, will be empowered to engage in addressing multi-dimensional barriers, including gender-specific issues, preventing girls and women from accessing education. Targeted communities are a key enabling factor in implementing innovative, localized, indigenous primary education (termed ‘Teachers Establishing Education Services’ [TEES]), accelerated learning programs (ALP), and livelihood skills training. Communities will be enabled to lead in planning and implementing actions to reduce barriers to girl’s and women’s education, as well as empowered to develop tools and systems to monitor and evaluate achievements, through community-led monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) approach.

Key Responsibilities:

Plans organize and manages the implementation of activities as described in the project proposal in line with donor requirements, ADRA’s strategy, its a country strategic annual plan, and program plan

Reports on the project progress through a Project Implementation Plan (PIP) on a monthly basis; and writes donor reports in line with contractual obligations;

Gender and conflict-sensitive approach to team management and project activities under her/his responsibility

Ensures that project achieves contractual deliverables with technical distinction, meet fiscal targets, are well planned, resourced, and properly tracked;

Contributes to program and knowledge development specifically related to the themes related to assigned project(s)

Tracks aspects of project performance; oversees project implementation of approved activities, monitoring timelines, tracking budgets, and supporting subcontract performance and financial management;

Represents BRIGHT in stakeholder meetings; communicates with client representatives, i.e. HAC and MOE as well as other partners;

Resolves issues in project start-up and close-out; manages project backstopping, key field personnel support, consultant agreements; the processing of project finance transactions, invoices, approval, and handling of program files;

Ensures compliance of project-related documentation including work plans, staff records, communications, and transactions ensuring they are properly documented, including reviewing project-related invoices.

WORK HEALTH, SECURITY AND SAFETY (WHSS)

Workers are responsible for:

  • Carrying out their duties in a manner which does not adversely affect their own health, security, and safety or that of others;
  • Cooperating with measures introduced in the interests of work health, security and safety;
  • Undertaking relevant training provided in relation to WHSS;
  • Immediately reporting all matters which may affect workplace health, security and safety to their supervisor;
  • Correctly using any information, training, personal protective equipment and safety devices provided;
  • Refraining from intentionally misusing or recklessly interfering with anything that has been provided for health, security, and safety reasons;
  • Undertaking only those tasks for which they have authorization and/or the necessary training, and for which all necessary safety arrangements are in place; and
  • Cooperating with arrangements made to assist the return-to-work of ill or injured employees.
  • Follows other job-related activities that are assigned by superior.

Qualifications:

Education:

Advanced degree in the field of Education and International Development, social sciences, development studies, or any related field;

Experience:

  • Six years (4 years of experience progressively responsible professional working experience in any INGO doing development or humanitarian work in the area of monitoring and evaluation with perspectives on women and gender;
  • Experience of working in the field of reporting and monitoring to include experience in developing plans, tracking results, reporting to different partnering agencies;
  • One (1) year experience performing M&E functions in agricultural programming with an I/NGO;
  • Experience in implementing similar projects in West Darfur State.

Skills and knowledge:

  • Experience in writing reports; developing and monitoring proposal and project budgets;
  • Experience in procuring goods and services and working with consultants and vendors;
  • Experience organizing and managing program/project knowledge/information;
  • Strong writing and editing skills; excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills;
  • Ability to assume responsibilities for the project of approximately $3M in funding;
  • Exceptional ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently;
  • Ability to multitask under tight deadlines; ability to travel internationally on short notice;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
